Differential scanning calorimetry and small angle X-ray scattering investigations are reported for block copolymers of the immiscible poly(ethylene oxide)(PEO) – poly(tert.-butyl methacrylate)(PTBMA) system in order to describe the influence of the block structure on the DSC melt crystallization of PEO sequences and on the morphologic phase behaviour. Lamellar thickness is correlated with the polymerization degree of the PEO and the amorphous PTBMA for both the thermodynamic equilibrium and non-equilibrium. Non-equilibrium results differ to those of extrapolated euqilibrium results. But within the experimental standard deviations, the theoretical predictions for the equilibrium (see Whitmore and Noolandi (Macromolecules 21 (1988) 1482)) could be confirmed. The knowledge of the thermal behaviour gives an additional tool in block copolymer characterization.
